Electric linemen install power lines and other electrical conduits. They use bucket trucks and ladders to reach telephone and utility poles. They use tools such as drills, pliers, screwdrivers, splicers, wire cutters, wrenches and electrical measuring devices.

Job Requirements
Working near live wires is a constant reality of this job. A high school diploma is required. Electric linemen learn their craft in formal apprenticeships or on-the-job training. Manual dexterity, physical strength and the ability to work in cramped areas are integral. Working near live electricity is a constant reality of this job.
